Live like a local and experience the Andalusian way of life
At The African House you will enjoy our hospitality from the moment you arrive. We will meet you in our garden to share a welcome drink with you. You will enjoy a breakfast made with local and seasonal products, recharge your internal "solar batteries" lazing around the huge pool, admire the sunset from our solar deck with incredible views or enjoy under the stars a delicious three meals diner Ana will be happy to prepare for you.
All this in one of the most beautiful places in Andalusia, the Sierra de las Nieves (see below), just 50 minutes from Malaga airport. A natural park which you can explore right from the house through multiple hiking trails. Admired for centuries by numerous writers and travelers and endowed with a romanticism that honors its unique architecture and rich history, Ronda, undoubtfully one of the most beautiful Andausian city awaits you only 45 kilometers away. In 45 minutes you will be in Malaga eating tapas in the historic center, admiring its Alcazaba or visiting one of its museums. And if you are more of a sea person, a gorgeous road will take you in 40 minutes to Marbella where you will enjoy a day at one of its many beaches,"chiringintos" or walk between luxury shops and expensive boats at the exclusive Puerto Banus.
The African House is also a good base if you want to spend the day on the shores of the green lake of "El Chorro" and experience the world famous "Caminito del Rey". You can also visit well-known and beautiful Andalusian cities such as Mijas, Antequera or a little further away Seville, Granada and Cordoba.
Sierra de las Nieves, the authentic rural Andalusia
The African House is located between the towns of Alozaina and Tolox, two typical Andalusian "white villages" characterized, among other things, by their Arab past, narrow streets adorned with flowers and fertile valleys dotted with olive trees and plantations. 350 meters above sea level, our house lies in the heart of the Sierra de las Nieves National Reserve and is surrounded by nature with breathtaking views over the Guadalhorce Valley and the Torrecilla peak (1907m high). Numerous paths of diverse difficulty start from The African House and will allow you to discover this beautiful nature reserve and refresh yourself in one of its many rivers, springs and canals.
Just two kilometers away is the village of Tolox, popular for its spa of Fuente Amargosa which was built in 1867. Some of the treated therapies include childhood asthma, chronic bronchitis , pulmonary emphysema, conjunctivitis, various allergies, kidney stones or diuretic ailments.
Tolox, Alozaina (6km) and Coin (15km) further away offers you all the amenities, shops, supermarkets and restaurants providing an excellent offer of tapas and typical gastronomy. Ask for our advice, we will be happy to share our favorite tips.
Families will also find in our house an excellent place to enjoy with the little ones in our huge swimming pool, walks in the middle of nature, playing and taking refreshing baths in the nearby river or visiting some of the nearby farms or numerous theme parks (animals, attractions or aquatic) scattered along the Costa del Sol.
